We started working with Phil at Michael’s Pack when our dog Sushi was just a few months old, and a year later, we can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made as dog owners. The transformation in Sushi’s behavior, obedience, socialization, and separation anxiety has been remarkable, and we owe so much of that progress to Phil’s guidance. What stood out most was Phil’s approach to positive reinforcement. He never made training feel harsh or forced, and he was just as patient teaching us the skills as he was working with Sushi himself. Training a dog is as much about training the humans, and Phil made that process feel manageable, encouraging, and even fun. A year in, Sushi is more confident, better socialized, and so much more comfortable being on his own. We know that took real work and consistency, and Phil was with us every step of the way. We can’t recommend Phil highly enough. He’s become our go to for any dog-related question, and we’re so grateful for everything he’s taught us and Sushi. If you’re looking for a trainer who genuinely cares about your dog’s wellbeing and your success as an owner, Phil is the one to call.

I was referred to Michaels Pack by a friend. Now that my puppy - Rhett - has finished 12 sessions, I will certainly be passing referrals to my friends. I had mixed feelings about hiring a trainer in the first place, but after the initial consultation with Phil, I was sold. It turned out that we had Phil as our trainer and I couldn’t imagine hiring anyone else! With Phil’s services, I truly feel that I made an investment for life giving me the tools to get the most out of being a dog owner. Great experience, and would recommend to anyone who wants a happy, obedient and safe dog.

Our dog 5 year old dog Murray had some behavior issues that we had trouble with, mainly stealing things and Murray struggling to adapt to there being a new baby in the house. Phil did a wonderful job training him. In just a few sessions, Murray’s behavior improved significantly and he’s now much calmer around the baby and is less prone to steal things. Plus, Phil was always available to answer questions on the phone, including from his vacation. He was a tremendous help!

I wanted to wait to write my review. Phil worked with us with my daughters pup. He had been with her at college, and although she did the right things, her roommates and other dog owners did not. We wound up with a pup who was fearful of people coming into the house and with other dogs. Phil came and truly listened. He heard her say she wanted her dog to be with her at school and not with us. He created a training program that was very specific to him. He worked with her on facetime while he was with us, and by the end of our 8 week package we all saw the progress. He was not a different dog, we did not want that. He was however, the best version of himself. And he was able to successfully be back where he belonged. When we first heard the cost we were a bit taken back. It is an expensive program. However, it is worth the price. It is not a one size fits all training class. It is a one on one custom program based on your and your dogs needs. What is even better, it is a lifetime commitment from Phil. The relationship does not end in 8 sessions. He wants to hear from you - he will celebrate the wins - and work through the questions. If you have a dog that has challenges, and are willing to put in the time, the love, and the work, then Phil is the perfect fit for you. I have had and trained dogs for over 50 years, but still needed some help with our boy - I cannot recommend Phil enough.

I have had my dog Ollie for about 8 years now and he has always struggled with marking. I got him when he was around 2 and being a street dog, he was stuck in his ways. Over time, we did our best to make sure he couldn't mark but there were always accidents or spite pees. We called Michael's pack and were able to work with Phil. He has two small children and we have a 2 year old, which was also why we called him. Navigating a dog, a toddler, and another baby coming while Ollie was starting to misbehave was a lot. Phil came for a consult and we discussed all the things we were struggling with and he helped curate a plan designed for our household and family. Phil gave my husband and I the structure and plan we needed to help Ollie learn to not pee in the house as well as learning to be more submissive. Ollie has always had his street dog mentality but we really needed to find a way to show Ollie he was not in charge. Over the 6 sessions we have made so many changes that have all benefited Ollie and us. He is learning where he needs to go, that he is not the boss, and has overall been a completely different dog. He is doing so well and we are so glad we got to work with Phil! We also have a long term plan and accountability for us to help Ollie continue his success. Thanks Phil! You're the best!

Nina and I got the chance to work with Michael, who is the owner of this training center and it was just a blast! We had a month of separation anxiety training, all virtual where we (Nina and I - with the help of Michael) had homework 4+ days out of the week and had the opportunity to meet with him once a week, and Nina has been a A+ student thanks to his homeworks and amazing punctual time management! I could not recommend Michael enough!!!!! He was the best, super supportive and positive, always replying whenever we needed to ask questions and just very kind and a loving dog person ❤️🐾 We definitely will be keeping in touch with him, he’s the best 10/10 recommend!

What is a CSAT?

Given the difficulty of dealing with separation anxiety cases in many dogs, it takes a certain level of expertise to get results. CSAT’s (Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer) must meet high standards before entering a rigorous three-month program with a focus solely on separation anxiety. A Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer is the best option available for helping dog owners that are noticing symptoms of separation anxiety in their pets. CSATs offer virtual training, so no matter where you live they can work with you and your dog remotely and come up with solutions for dealing with your dog’s separation anxiety.

How Our Virtual Program Works

The Michael’s Pack virtual CSAT program requires a 6-week minimum commitment as separation anxiety is a complex behavior and the process to change the behavior is gradual. During these 6 weeks, we work closely with our clients 5 days a week. The program can be broken down into the following concepts:

  • Daily mission creation (5 days a week) – We will be creating individualized training plans based on your dog’s personality and behavior. This is broken down day by day specifically for you and your dog to get the best possible results.
  • Daily support and feedback (5 days a week) – It is best to take stock daily of what is working and what needs to be improved. This daily feedback will help mold the program to your dog’s needs.
  • Weekly live virtual assessment with you and your dog – While we will be in touch daily, the weekly assessment will dive deeper into any questions or concerns you may have.
  • Tracking of progress – Dogs are living things, and just like with humans they sometimes do not progress in a perfectly linear fashion. There may be setbacks but we take great care in tracking their progress and seeing how they are doing daily and over a longer period of time.

Separation Anxiety Training From the Comfort Of Your Own Home

Remote training has many benefits over traditional in-person training, especially for separation anxiety cases. Some of the benefits include:

  • Work with the most qualified separation anxiety trainers no matter where you live.
  • Extremely flexible training schedule to fit your needs.
  • Maintain your privacy and routine – no need to tidy up or rush home.
  • Fewer distractions for your dog, and they will be in a familiar environment with familiar people.

Why Should You Hire a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer?

Separation anxiety is one of the most difficult issues to deal with in dogs. Many dog trainers will refer out separation anxiety cases to specialists, which often includes a CSAT. Living with a dog that suffers from separation anxiety can make it difficult to leave your home for even a short period of time, so working with a CSAT dog trainer can help your dog deal with their emotional state and become accustomed to being separated from you. Contact Michael’s Pack today to learn more about our virtual separation anxiety training.
